Bio

Hi everyone!

This is my 12th year at Locke Elementary as a staff member and my 13th year overall - I did my student teaching at Locke. I have served the Locke community for the last five years as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator, and this year will be my first year as the Dean and SEL Coordinator. Before my role as a coordinator, I was the seventh-grade Individuals and Societies teacher. I have a BA in history, an MA in language, literacy, and culture, and an MA in educational leadership.

Locke is a special place that has and will always have a special place in my heart. I am fortunate to have terrific mentors guide me through my educational career. Additionally, it is a pleasure to plan and work with administrators and teachers that care about their students, the community, and bring innovative and meaningful learning experiences to all students.

As for me, I enjoy spending time with my family, loved ones, and friends. A perfect evening for me is cooking out, sitting around a bonfire, telling stories, kids running around, and enjoying every second of life. I am an avid sports fan and reader. My two favorite sports to play and watch are basketball and baseball. I am one of the biggest Tolkien (best known as the author of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings) fans you will meet! I'm in a book club known as the Tolkieneers :)  I believe that a community is only as strong as the investment that its community members put into the community. I started the Bell Park Baseball League seven years ago with three of my friends and am one of the board members. I have served on the Bell Park PAC and have formed a strong relationship between Locke and the Brook Church across from Bell Park.

Lastly, I believe that people need to balance the physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual aspects of their lives to be productive individuals. Having these aspects in balance allows us to overcome any obstacles and enjoy life to the fullest!

Cheers to a great 2023-2024 school year!
