Task:   Your task is to create a board or trivia game based on the book.  This project will allow you to reflect on the book while presenting the information in a fun and creative way.  We will also get a chance to play each other’s games! 


Steps to follow:
Develop a concept or theme - how will the game represent the book?  Flippity.net board game or Jeopardy game
Jamboard board game
Design a game on paper
 
Develop rules:
How do you win the game?
Boardgame:  How do you move through the game?
Trivia game:  What are the levels of the game?  


Create questions for the game (Questions based on the book are required of all games


Design the game - what will it look like?  


Test it out - what works, what doesn’t.  Keep what does and change what doesn’t 


Play it with others

1.   On Epic Books read the Jade Emperor:  A Chinese Zodiac Story;  The Dragon, The Phoenix, and the Beautiful Pearl; and  Nu Gua Mends the Sky.   These are Chinese myths found on the Epic Books website. 

2.  Select two of the myths to compare/contrast with one another.

3.  Complete the Similarities and Differences graphic organizer (Jamboard) - listing each book's main characters, the main theme (the message of the story), and its conflicts.

Read a cool story about a Griffon.  Can you figure out the riddle?  Then summarize it using SWBST strategy.

You will use this workbook for the entire Percy Jackson book by completing chapter slides.

A complete sentence has 3 main parts:

A subject (noun): the person, place, thing, or idea
A predicate (verb): the action the subject does

Design a Google slide telling us All About You! Include facts about you, pictures or illustrations, symbols ... anything that lets us know about who you are and what types of things you like to do. The slide should be intentionally designed and include color.

As an option you can do this by hand and then take a picture of your work (then email it to me).

I will put all these slides into a slide deck so we can learn more about each other. Attached are directions and a grading rubric. I also have a short video explaining how to use Google slides if you need some help.

I would like to know more about you as a Reader. 😀 What do you like to read? Do you like to read in front of people or does that make you nervous? What is your favorite book? Attached you will find a Google Doc with these questions and more. Please complete the survey with as much detail as you can. You can complete it during the summer or on the first day of school.

When completing the survey:
1. Use complete sentences for the short answers. A complete sentence begins with a capital letter, has a full thought, and ends with punctuation (. ? !).
2. After writing a sentence, read it back to yourself. Does it make sense? If not correct it.
3. Check your spelling. The great part of typing online is that the program will help point out misspelled words. If a word is spelled wrong - correct it!
