You will create a Faith Ringgold inspired quilt on your paper. Using your pencil, you will need to draw one of your favorite memories.
You will design a frame with squares of quilt designs of your choice (wrapping paper, junk mail, your own designs drawn on your paper).
Final touch, draw stitching with black crayon or marker for a sewing effect.

Your artwork will need to take up your entire paper, small creations will not be accepted. There should be no white showing. Take your time, get creative and have fun!

What's you scoop?

First assignment: Students will draw an ice cream of their choice with a pencil. Some examples are cones, sundaes, banana splits, ice cream cakes, ice cream sandwiches or other creative ideas. Drawings must be very large (from the top of the paper to the bottom, and each side to side. Once the pencil drawing is completed to the students satisfaction, it should be colored very neatly with crayons. In the composition students will illustrate their favorite flavor including details (toppings, sprinkles, cherries.....). Creative ideas are encouraged so students can share the "SCOOP" about themselves.
