Welcome Back Locke Students and Staff
My name is Steven Lazarevic and this year will be my first year out of the classroom after teaching I & S and Science for 19 years. This year I will be doing MTSS data and interventions throughout the year. This is a new part of my journey that I am really looking forward to doing. I would like to thank the Locke School Administrative team for this opportunity.
My journey started all the way back in 1987 when my parents enrolled me in kindergarten at Locke School. I went to Locke for all of my elementary school years and I graduated in 1996. After I graduated from high school and college I eventually made my way back to Locke School. I was a student teacher with Mr. Agbay in 2004 when he taught 6th grade. It was definitely an experience I will never forget. To this day, I still believe I learned more with him in twelve weeks than my entire university experience combined! After I graduated from North Park University in 2004, I started substitute teaching and became a cadre at Burbank Elementary (Not far from Locke School).
In 2006, I applied for an opening for a fifth grade position at Locke School. I was hired by Mr. Fitzpatrick and I have been at Locke teaching fifth grade up until last school year (2025-2026). Locke School is basically my second home. I have seen so many changes such as new staff coming, old staff retiring, new buildings being built, the old building getting updated and new add-ons.
Along with my BA in Education, I also have a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership (Type 75) and I also have an ESL Endorsement (English as a Second Language).
In my spare time, I like to travel with my family and our new addition baby Leon, keep our home looking nice, play and walk all of our dogs (5 total), play video games (not so much these days), and go to the gym to stay healthy.
If you ever have any questions whether you are currently in my class or you graduated from Locke years ago, please feel free to contact me
