Welcome to 6th Grade Reading

Welcome to 6th Grade Reading.  My name is Mrs. Gonzalez.  I have been teaching for Chicago Public Schools for the past 30 years.  

I am looking forward to working with your children.  This year we will be focusing on both fiction and non-fiction.  We will be reading the novels Seedfolks, Wonder, The One and Only Ivan, Blended and Breadwinner.   We will also be studying various poets and will be reading poetry on a weekly basis.  Your child will have weekly vocabulary quizzes, using the words from the text and the Des Cartes list.

 

I am the mom of two teenage boys.  Both of them graduated from Locke.  In my free time I love hiking with my dog, traveling and  teaching martial arts.  I love spending time outdoors and of course reading!
